Who our capital introduction services reach, for whom

Our VC outreach, LP outreach and debt process reach different sets of investors.

I am

    The five channels

Five investor outreach channels, running at once

Most advisors run one channel. We run all five at once, because the channel an investor answers differs from one investor to the next.

    01

    The network

    440+direct relationships
    • Investors we have placed with before, who take the call because of who is asking

    80+triggers watched
    • A fund closes, and we approach the partners writing your cheque size that week
    • A company in your sector raises from a fund we track, so that fund is warm

    • Dinners hosted in your name, every guest briefed before they sit down
    • Conference weeks, where the whole room is already in one place

    • Advisors who cover a market we do not sit in, and who are known there
    • The introduction comes from someone the investor already knows in that market

    • The Raise or Die Letter, our own newsletter, out every two weeks

    • Investors who arrive this way arrive already warm

The technology that times every introduction

Two systems behind our capital introduction services, both built in-house: a signal engine and our own investor database.

    01

Capital introduction, timed to the allocation

A fund closes. A mandate is published. A partner moves. An exit frees capital.

    80+triggers watched, continuously
    02

VC outreach and LP outreach, written per name

Our own database holds what each name has actually written cheques into, so a VC approach and an LP approach are two different letters.

We send the approach in the week the trigger fires, while the allocation decision is open.

    • It builds a record. Four updates in, they have watched you hit four forecasts before diligence even starts.

Two ways we run the mandate

Same targeting, same preparation, same pipeline, same updates. What changes is who is in the conversations, and what it costs.

    Option A · most mandates

    We run the whole conversation

Strategy, materials, every first call, the pipeline and the terms. You hear about an investor once they want the next step.

    What is included
    1. Raise strategy: amount, instrument, mix of funding
    2. Which investors, in which order, and why
    3. Readiness: deck, model, data room, kept current
    4. We take every first call, in full, in your name
    5. NDA signed and the data room opened by us
    6. Every objection back into the materials
    7. Pipeline, updates, and terms through to close
Fees Retainer plus a success fee on capital raised, set in the mandate
    Option B

We open the door, you take the call

Outreach, preparation, pipeline and investor updates are ours. The conversations, and the close, are yours.

    What is included
    1. Targeting and the approach, across all five channels
    2. Every meeting prepared, briefed to you 48 hours before
    3. Nobody booked who has not asked for the meeting
    4. Pipeline kept: notes, objections, next steps
    5. Investor updates every 30 days, to every bucket
    6. You take the calls and lead them to close
    7. Strategy and materials available, not included
Fees Retainer plus a success fee on capital raised, set in the mandate

Why option A converts. Investors treat a company an advisor brings as screened, every first call is ours, and we take the passes before they reach you.

    What capital introduction services cost

    Monthly retainer+Success fee

Four to twelve monthly retainers while the outreach runs, then one success fee once the raise closes and the capital reaches you.

No success fee. The retainers are the whole cost.

    01 The retainer

Targeting, the approach across every channel, the first calls and the pipeline behind them. Flat for the term.

    02 The success fee

A percentage of capital raised, capped in the mandate.

Who we work with, and who we turn down

A capital introduction mandate is months of one desk's attention, so we take a small number at a time.

    Where we work
    • Software
    • Financial services
    • Healthcare
    • Energy
    • Industrials
    • Consumer and food
    • Business services
    • Logistics
    • Real estate

Sector rarely decides whether we take a mandate. The criteria below do.

A company raising a Series A or later, with revenue and a defined use of proceeds.

    Pre-revenue, pre-product, or a round before Series A.

A fund manager raising $50M or more for a vehicle, a continuation fund or a co-invest sleeve, with a track record an LP can diligence.

No defined use of proceeds. The first thing an investor asks is what the money buys.

A timeline that allows a real process, and materials we can get to diligence standard.

A raise that has to close in weeks.

A mandate to run the process: positioning, materials, targeted outreach, the first conversations and the updates, through to close.

Introductions are part of a mandate, not a list we sell. They run inside the whole process.

A transaction where it is clear which side we are on, and we are paid by that side.

Acting for the investors as well as our client.

A retainer alongside the success fee, because the work that produces a term sheet starts months before one exists.

Success fee only. A desk paid solely on close cannot afford the months of targeting, briefing and follow-up that get you there.

Not sure which side you are on? That is what the first call is for.

Capital introduction questions we answer on every first call

    01What is capital introduction?

Capital introduction puts a company or a fund manager in front of the investors and LPs that fit its raise. At spectup introductions are part of a mandate, not a list we sell: we position the raise, prepare the materials, build the target list from our network and our own investor data, make the introductions, run the outreach and take the first conversations, on a retainer plus a success fee.

02How are your capital introduction services different from prime-brokerage cap intro?

Prime brokers introduce their hedge fund clients to allocators, as a service bundled with prime brokerage and paid for through trading. spectup is not a prime broker and takes no trading side of a relationship: one company or fund manager mandates us, pays a retainer and a success fee, and we stay in the process after the introduction.

03How is capital introduction different from a placement agent?

A placement agent is mandated by a fund or an issuer to run the whole offering: the materials, a named target list worked to a timetable, and the process through to close. Capital introduction is the investor side of that work: who to approach, the introduction and the first conversations. At spectup both run inside one mandate, for one side only.

    04What is a capital introducer?

A capital introducer brings a company or a fund manager in front of investors it already has relationships with, rather than handing over a list to work yourself. spectup does that from three layers: 440+ relationships out of transactions we closed, 2,500+ investors and LPs it has sat in front of with clients, and the investor books of 30+ partner firms. It runs the targeting before the introduction and the pipeline after it.

    05What is investor outreach?

Investor outreach is the process of identifying the right investors for a specific raise, approaching them, and converting that approach into meetings. Run by spectup, it covers targeting, the approach across several channels, the first conversations, the pipeline that records them, and the updates that keep every investor warm until they commit. It is the working half of our capital introduction services.

06What do your capital introduction services deliver?

Our capital introduction services deliver meetings, each one briefed. The list is yours to keep, but it is not the deliverable: a name you have to work yourself is a cost, not an asset.

07Who takes the first investor conversation?

Your choice, and it can change mid-mandate. Either spectup takes every first call, qualifies it, gets the NDA signed and opens the data room before anything reaches you, or the investor goes straight into your calendar and you are briefed first.

08How is the investor target list built?

We build it from three layers: 440+ direct investor and LP relationships out of closed transactions, 2,500+ investors and LPs we have sat in front of with clients, and 30+ partner firms whose own investors open on a shared mandate. We then filter it with our signal engine, watching 80+ triggers for the moment capital becomes allocatable: a fund closes, a mandate is published, a partner moves, an exit frees capital. We build the list for this raise rather than pull it off a shelf, and you approve it before anyone is approached.

09Do you do VC outreach and LP outreach, or only one?

Both, as separate mandates, because they are separate rooms. VC outreach targets equity investors for a company. LP outreach targets allocators who commit to a fund, and an LP takes the meeting because of who is asking.

10What happens to investors who pass?

We follow up with each one on a 30-day update cadence. A pass this quarter is often a lead two quarters later.

11Does the outreach stop once a meeting is booked?

No. We stay on through terms, valuation and structure, and join the investor calls you want us on.

12What do capital introduction services cost?

For capital introduction services spectup charges a monthly retainer plus a success fee on capital raised, both written into the mandate before we approach the first investor. No rate card: the figures follow the instrument, the size and the jurisdictions.

13What does the client keep at the end?

The target list, the pipeline with every note and objection, and the relationships. It all lives in a shared Notion room you have open from day one, so there is nothing to hand back.

14Can you book meetings around travel we already have?

Yes. Send the cities and the dates, and our outreach targets investors sitting in them.

15Do you need a licence to do this, and is spectup a registered broker-dealer in the US?

spectup’s U.S.-related activity runs under SEC Rule 15a-6, through a chaperoning arrangement with a U.S. registered broker-dealer that is a FINRA and SIPC member.

16Which regions do your capital introductions cover?

Our capital introduction services cover North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, worked by our international team. The investor types change by region: institutional investors and LPs in New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto; LPs, family offices and institutions in London, Berlin, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan and Stockholm; sovereign wealth and family office capital in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Doha; institutional allocators and family capital in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney.

Congratulations on Fund IV. You will be building the first cohort now, and we run a mandate that fits the thesis you just described. You backed two companies at this stage last quarter. Ours is the same shape, and the numbers are attached. You asked to be called when something in this sector reached revenue. It has, and I have ten minutes of detail and no deck. You and the partner both sat on the same board. One line from you puts this in front of them warm.
